ANRI Juan Ferrandiz 6" Scale "Talking to the Animals" Figurine Woodcarving Made in Italy. Likely made circa 1981 to 1983. In Excellent vintage condition.
This great sculpture was carved from a single block of wood. Every single cut was worked by hand and every detail carefully hand brushed with special transparent oil based colors so that the beauty of the wood grain remains visible. Measures about 6" tall x about 3 1/8" wide x 2 3/4" deep. "Ferrandiz" signature is carved on the back of the base.
Juan Ferrandiz, born and raised in Barcelona, gained recognition across Europe for his drawings and paintings. He studied art in his hometown, later becoming an art professor, and dedicated himself to creating figures inspired by his fondness for childhood themes. He is particularly well-known for his illustrations of children's fables and poems, and his name is closely tied to his unique and original Christmas cards, which reflect his distinct artistic personality.
Ferrandiz's international acclaim largely stemmed from his collaboration with ANRI, which brought many of his designs to life as wooden sculptures. The partnership began in 1969, and throughout his career, Ferrandiz’s creations inspired ANRI’s master carvers to continually produce new works based on his ideas.
