Shop: Set Sail Set-- This set includes 6 postcards. They range from 1907-1934 in age. They are also a good example of different print substrates with some of them being on linen and some even showing the white border that was introduced to save ink! 2 are not written on. All are in good shape but all have some light wear to them.
Learn: Around 1930, linen type paper stock was used, together with synthetic organic printing inks, with saturated pigments based on coal tars. This allowed brighter color printing that was also aided by the woven fabric texture.
