Johnston's character Mary Ware was based on her sister Albion Fellows, who helped lead the effort for reforms of policies affecting the poor in Indiana. Illustrated with a glossy front and seven inserted plates by Frank T. Merrill. 385 pp. plus 20 pp of publisher's ads.It is in good condition with some wear to the book.
